About CMA-Cameroon
OUR HISTORY
The Christian Medical Association (CMA) began in 2000 at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. Three classmates — Ninying Fointama, Oben Patrick, and Gobina Ronald— felt led to gather for prayer and fellowship. Their first meeting outside the amphitheatre drew curious classmates, and what started as a small gathering quickly grew into weekly meetings that attracted nearly half the class at times.
By the end of their first year, the group organized a welcome party for new students, inspired by Dr. Ngoloko Serge’s vision to pray for incoming candidates even before exams were written. The event became a powerful evangelistic tool, with ministers sharing the gospel and many responding to altar calls. This tradition of annual welcome parties has continued faithfully, ensuring each new class is nurtured into fellowship.
As the movement expanded, multiple class cells were formed, leading to the establishment of the 'Bible Club' with both class-level and general structures. Leaders like Dr. Patrick Oben emphasized holistic discipleship, combining spiritual growth with academic excellence, relationships, and professional integrity. Revision sessions, leadership workshops, and conferences reinforced this vision.
Influential figures such as Dr. Iwu David and Dr. Foy Theodore strengthened mobilization and intercession. Leaders like Dr. Loni Gabriel, Nzometia Crysantus, Katte Jean Claude emerged and became leaders of the movement. Over 25 years today, the CMA has grown beyond the Faculty of Medicine in Yaounde, and beyond and medical doctors to include professionals across Cameroon. The Christian Medical Association of Cameroon, remains a vibrant fellowship, committed to faith, excellence, and leadership in healthcare and beyond. We are spread across several regions in Cameroon and out of Cameroon.

OUR VISION
The Christian Medical Association has as a vision to raise excellent Christian professionals who will bring a lasting holistic revival in their different sectors and to the communities where God will send them. (Matthew.28:18-20, 1Thessalonian. 5:23)
We have a double-door mandate; Professional and Spiritual excellence. (Isaiah.45:13). The CMA also has a leadership mandate where members are raised to become great leaders, to not only become pioneers but lead great institutions at national and international levels.
